Ok... go shoot something that you really want to shoot... we aren't going to give you any guidelines or expectations - so there should be NO excuse for NOT posting this week...

We had really hoped for more posts each week and a faithful few are really getting into things and making some lovely photos in the process!!!

If you don't want to be involved anymore, just let us know!!!

    Cheers

    Al, Jared and Anna

I like taking photos of people without them knowing it. However this week I haven't been able to go people watching so Xavier was my subject. I board with a family, his is the youngest one - Xavier. Xavier loves having this photo taken so it's hard to get a photo without him focused on the camera. This photo is very much him - bright eyed & big grin.

When I read this weeks brief - the second photo came to mine. This is of one of my favourite photos from my trip to Turkey. A man selling lottery tickets outside the ferry terminals in Istanbul. He isn't fazed by the busyness of Istanbul. (This is what I mean by people watching).

Time to fess up ... whenever I've chosen the theme I've picked something that I like photographing.  Well, not this week.  This week's challenge is distinctly outside my photographic comfort zone.  While l admire great portraiture, I really struggle to point my camera at people.  So this week the challenge is to capture the essence of a person or people.

(I was going to include a photo with this post, but I'm sure you get the gist!  Also, my computer has decided that today is Frustrate Anna By Not Working Properly Day, and has already crashed twice when I've tried to attach a photo, so I give up.)

I haven't been able to get out this week unfortunately, so here is a shot I took last winter that captures sun flare really well. It was one of those unplanned shots that I didn't actually think looked good until I looked at it in post processing.

This was the handmade chocolate top of the birthday cake my wife made for our 11 year olds Paris themed birthday party. It looked pretty impressive.

    Crysalis

You know that thing that happens in life... when you buy your kids a fantastic new toy, and they end up playing with the box!?!? Well I feel a little bit like that with my Monarch Butterfly caterpillars. I went to the trouble of planting a Swan Plant... and then the little blighters stripped it bare and parked their little Crysalis houses everywhere BUT on the Swan Plant. There are 2 hanging off our Deck (including the one in this pic) another one just hatched from it's hiding place inside one of the legs of our water-play table and 2 found homes on the plant NEXT to the Swan plant... crazy life-cycling times at the Ronberg house I can tell you.
